More about the Poodle (Miniature)
The Poodle, called the Pudel in German and the Caniche in French, is a breed of water dog. The breed is divided into four varieties based on size, the Standard Poodle, Medium Poodle, Miniature Poodle and Toy Poodle, although the Medium Poodle is not universally recognised. They have a distinctive thick, curly coat that comes in many colours and patterns, with only solid colours recognised by major breed registries. Poodles are active and intelligent, and are particularly able to learn from humans. Poodles tend to live 10โ18 years, with smaller varieties tending to live longer than larger ones.

Personality & fit
Miniature Poodles are sharp, alert, and genuinely tuned in to their people, which makes them wonderful companions for families, singles, or seniors who want an engaged, responsive dog. They're playful without being frantic, but they do best when included in daily life rather than left to entertain themselves.
Exercise & energy
Moderate but real energy needs, a couple of brisk walks plus some playtime or training games each day keeps them content. They enjoy fetch, agility-style challenges, and anything that lets them use their brain along with their legs.
Grooming & coat
That dense, curly coat doesn't shed much, which many people with allergies appreciate, but it needs regular brushing (several times a week) to prevent mats and a trim every 4-6 weeks to stay manageable. Regular ear checks are also worth adding to the routine since their floppy ears can trap moisture.
Training
Few breeds pick things up faster. Miniature Poodles thrive on positive reinforcement and can master obedience, tricks, and agility with real enthusiasm. Keep sessions varied and mentally engaging; a bored Poodle will find their own entertainment, and it's usually not what you'd choose.
Health to watch
Generally sturdy, but it's worth watching for luxating patella (a slipping kneecap), progressive retinal atrophy, and dental crowding common in smaller mouths. Routine vet checkups, keeping them at a healthy weight, and regular teeth brushing help catch or prevent most issues early.
Good to know
Budget for regular professional grooming, it's part of owning this breed, not an occasional extra. In return, you get a dog that's as easy on allergies as it is easy to fall in love with.
