Frug
Dog breed
Small, charming companion crossbreed resulting from a cross between a French Bulldog and Pug, known for its playful personality, distinctive flat-faced (brachycephalic) appearance, and compact build
Living with a Frug
A pint-sized bundle of wrinkles and personality that wants nothing more than to be near you, wherever you are.
Personality & fit
Playful, affectionate, and endlessly adaptable, the Frug bonds closely with its family and tends to get along well with kids and other pets. They're happy dogs at heart, alert enough to notice visitors but rarely aggressive about it, and they thrive on companionship more than independence.
Exercise & energy
Moderate energy in a small package, short walks and indoor play sessions are usually plenty. Because of their flat faces, they overheat and tire easily, so keep outings brief and skip exercise during hot or humid weather.
Grooming & coat
The short coat sheds lightly and just needs a weekly brush to stay neat. Facial wrinkles and skin folds need regular wiping and drying to prevent irritation or infection, and nails, ears, and teeth should get routine attention too.
Training
Smart and food-motivated but sometimes stubborn, the Frug responds best to short, upbeat sessions with plenty of treats and praise. Early socialization helps them channel their alertness into confidence rather than nervousness.
Health to watch
As a brachycephalic (flat-faced) breed, the Frug can struggle with breathing, especially in heat or after excitement, keep them cool and avoid overexertion. Watch for skin fold infections, eye irritation, and weight gain, since extra pounds make breathing and joint issues worse; regular vet checkups and portion control help keep them comfortable.
Good to know
Not a breed for hot climates or long hikes, they're happiest as a low-key companion who joins you on the couch more than the trail. Their cute snoring and snorting are normal, but any real wheezing or labored breathing is worth a vet visit.
