Siamese
Cat breed
While Siamese cats are extremely fond of their people, they will follow you around and supervise your every move, being talkative and opinionated. They are a demanding and social cat, that do not like being left alone for long periods.
More about the Siamese
The Siamese cat is one of the first distinctly recognised breeds of domestic cat. It is selectively bred since the end of the 19th-century from the Wichianmat landrace, one of several varieties of cats native to Thailand, and is pedigreed in all major cat fancier and breeder organisations. Siamese cats have a distinctive colourpoint coat, resulting from a temperature-sensitive type of albinism. Distinct features like blue almond-shaped eyes, a triangular wedged head shape, large wide-set ears, an elongated, slender, and muscular body, and various colours of point colouration characterise the breed.
Living with a Siamese
Talkative, people-obsessed, and strikingly beautiful, a cat that treats you like its whole world.
Personality & fit
Extremely social, vocal, and intelligent, Siamese cats bond intensely with their humans and 'converse' constantly. They hate being alone and thrive on interaction.
Exercise & energy
Playful and active well into adulthood, daily interactive play and puzzle toys keep their sharp minds satisfied and prevent boredom.
Grooming & coat
Wonderfully low-maintenance: the short, fine coat needs only an occasional brush and sheds very little.
Training
Clever enough to learn tricks, fetch, and even leash walking, they genuinely enjoy the mental engagement.
Health to watch
Generally healthy but predisposed to dental disease and some breed-specific conditions, including respiratory and heart issues. Keep up with dental care and check-ups.
Good to know
Not a quiet cat, they're famously chatty. Best in homes where someone's around, or with a companion pet.
