Havana Brown
Cat breed
The Havana Brown is human oriented, playful, and curious. She has a strong desire to spend time with her people and involve herself in everything they do. Being naturally inquisitive, the Havana Brown reaches out with a paw to touch and feel when investigating curiosities in its environment. They are truly sensitive by nature and frequently gently touch their human companions as if they are extending a paw of friendship.
More about the Havana Brown
The Havana Brown is a pedigreed domestic cat breed with a solid chocolate short-haired coat. The breed resulted from a planned breeding between chocolate-carrying Siamese and domestic shorthair black cats, by a group of British cat fanciers in the 1950s.
Living with a Havana Brown
A rich chocolate-coated shadow who'd rather be underfoot than anywhere else, reaching out a curious paw to touch everything, and everyone, she loves.
Personality & fit
Havana Browns are deeply affectionate and people-focused, often following their favorite humans from room to room and 'talking' with their paws as much as their voice. They're smart, playful, and genuinely social, making them a great fit for households, including ones with kids or dog-friendly homes, where someone's around most of the day.
Exercise & energy
Moderate energy, daily play sessions with puzzle toys or interactive wand toys keep that curious mind satisfied. They're not a bounce-off-the-walls breed, but they do love an audience while they play.
Grooming & coat
That short, sleek coat is about as low-maintenance as it gets, an occasional light brushing handles shedding just fine. No mats, no fuss, more time for cuddling.
Training
Highly intelligent and eager to engage, Havana Browns often pick up tricks, leash walking, or puzzle feeders quickly, especially with treat rewards. Their need to be near you makes training sessions feel more like bonding time than work.
Health to watch
Generally a sturdy, healthy breed with few known genetic issues. Routine vet checkups and a good diet are usually all it takes to keep them thriving well into their teens.
Good to know
This is not a cat who does well ignored, she craves company and interaction, so she's best suited to a home where she won't spend long stretches alone.
