Cyprus
Cat breed
Loving, loyal, social and inquisitive, the Cyprus cat forms strong ties with their families and love nothing more than to be involved in everything that goes on in their surroundings. They are not overly active by nature which makes them the perfect companion for people who would like to share their homes with a laid-back relaxed feline companion.
More about the Cyprus
Cyprus, officially the Republic of Cyprus, is an island country in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, located off the coast of the Levant mainland in West Asia. The island of Cyprus, which is the third largest and third most populous island in the Mediterranean, is divided along the United Nations Buffer Zone between the internationally recognised Republic of Cyprus and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is recognised only by Turkey. The south of the island also hosts the British sovereign military bases of Akrotiri and Dhekelia. The capital and largest city of Cyprus is Nicosia.
Living with a Cyprus
An affectionate, people-loving cat that wants to be wherever you are, with a naturally easygoing streak.
Personality & fit
The Cyprus cat is loyal, social, and deeply bonded to its family, happiest when included in daily life rather than off on its own. They're friendly toward strangers, kids, and other pets, and their relaxed nature makes them a great fit for households that want a warm, present companion without constant demands.
Exercise & energy
They carry moderate energy and enjoy play, but they're not the bouncing-off-the-walls type. A little interactive play each day plus perches or window spots for watching the world keeps them content.
Grooming & coat
Their coat is low-to-moderate maintenance, a weekly brush handles normal shedding and keeps things tidy without much fuss.
Training
Curious and reasonably sharp, they pick up routines and litter box habits easily, and respond well to gentle, reward-based encouragement for things like scratching posts or leash walks if you want to try.
Health to watch
Generally a robust breed with few known hereditary issues. Regular checkups, a good diet, and dental care are the main things to stay on top of to keep them healthy for the long run.
Good to know
They thrive on togetherness, so this is a better match for owners who are home often or can involve them in daily activity rather than leaving them alone for long stretches.
